Day 40 – Start Trip Home Day 1 of 2

Left Daisy Barn around 9:40am. Drove about 7 hours and arrived just North of Cincinnati at a Cracker Barrell that allows overnight RV parking.

Since we were so close to Cinncy, the city well-known for its 3-, 4-, and 5-way chili spaghetti, we had to find a nearby Skyline Chili restaurant for a taste. We found one of the Skyline Chili restaurants a few miles from us. You can have it 3-way, spaghetti with Cincinnati Chili sauce, meat and lots of cheese. Or have it 4-way which is 3-way with either onions or beans. Or if you really are hungry, have it 5-way with both onions and beans. We both had a 4-way and I added a garden salad. So, so good!

Day 39 – Game Day

Alabama vs. Texas A& M

Most of the day we just relaxed at the campground. After a day at Niagara, we were all quite tired and needed the day off.

Renee fixed pot roast for all of us. Roast, carrots, mashed potatoes, and cheese bread. For dessert, Renee fixed us an apple dump cake, which we all enjoyed with ice cream and whipped cream.

The night ended with a nightmare. By midnight we watched the tide play one of its worst games they’ve played all year. What an embarrassment to all Bama fans.

Day 38 – Niagara Falls

Got up early to leave the campground to go visit Niagara Falls, about 30 minutes away. First stop after arriving was to get our tickets to the Maid-of-the-Mist boat ride. Before boarding we went out to the edge of the observation tower to see the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls in the distance.

Then we donned our plastic ponchos and boarded the boat. It’s destination was underneath both falls. Purpose: to get you really wet and give you a closeup view of the extreme power of the waterfalls. It was nothing like we’ve ever done.

After we all got a little wet, we hiked around the park to see the different views of the American Falls.

After walking around a bit, we decided to ride the trolley over to Goat Island, the island between the American and Horseshoe Falls, to get a better view of the falls.

After returning to the campground, we took a walk with Marley around the grounds and saw a beautiful sunset over Lake Ontario. Nice way to end the day.

This resort wasn’t the fanciest of campgrounds, but well kept and a view to remember for a lifetime. Thank you, Daisy Barn RV Campground.

Day 31 – Visited Shelburne and Burlington

We went to Shelburne about 20 minutes away from the campground. We shopped in a nice Zchristmas store Renee found out about. We ate lunch at a small grill near the shop. Then went to Burlington to walk around a street that was closed to traffic and allowed room for outdoor dining, music and shopping area. It was called the Church Street Market Place. Most of the shops were high-end shops, but had fun walking around.
