Day 6 – Travel to Outer Banks, NC

This morning we left about 7:30am to get ahead of a line of storms that had tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama the night before. Rained off and on all day. Took us 8 hrs, which should have been about 6.

The trip made a big mess on our vehicles. After setting up the RV, we had to take some time to wash our Jeep’s. They were a mess, especially for a brand new Jeep!

After the Jeeps were clean, we went out to see the area. We were disappointed to find out most things were closed due to the off-season. The busy season was to start next weekend! Argh!

We did find a new place to eat south of our campsite named Oceanic Bistro. Their special for the night was 2 lbs of steamed shrimp and a side for about $10. We jumped on it and it was delicious! That was about 24 large shrimp!

Returned to the RV and slept on a full stomach! It was rainy and stormy most of the night. The wind shook the RV several times in the night. Winds were 20-30mph here.

  1. I’m sure that is a bummer about the off-season. The shrimp looks delicious though! Glad y’all made it there safely. From your videos of the beach, the winds looked strong!
