Day 28 – More Sightseeing

After sharing a breakfast together, we all left for more sightseeing in the National park. First stop was a hiking trail to the Lost Pond. Trail was a little over a mile in and out.

While on the trail to the Lost Pond, we were visited by the very rare occurrences of a young moose beside the trail in a marshy area eating some leaves and such.

Then Renee and I went to a small town called North Conway to do some shopping. Ate lunch at a market place. Next stop is a short trail to the Sabbadad Falls. About 0.7 miles in and out.

Day 21 – Travel Day to Bay Harbor Area

We left Old Orchard Beach Campground around 9am and arrived at Mt Desert Narrows 2 near Bar Harbor, Maine around 12:30pm. The trip was about 220 miles. We have traveled over 1650 miles since September 1st.

After setting up, Randy and Wendy went with us to visit Acadia National Park. It is located on an island call Mount Desert Island connected to the mainland by a bridge. The island contained various little towns, one of which is called Bar Harbor, near where we are staying. The Acadia National Park is a mountainous area that has beautiful rock-filled shores all around it. We visited several sites on the road that loops the park. The first site was called Schooner Head. It was large rock formations that the ocean waves would bounce against. Across the bay was a gorgeous house that had a multi-million dollar view.

Then we went to a spot called Thunder Hole. It was a rock formation on the shore that funneled waves into a large hole in the rocks. When the waves would bounce into the hole, the sound of the wave was very similar to the sound of thunder. It was pretty cool. The video below doesn’t do it justice. Hearing it live is awesome.

The final stop was a shoreline full of large rock formations that were quite picturesque. It’s like what you would see in a postcard of the area. The views were so awesome that it reminds us to be so thankful for the creation God has given us. So thankful to see all these sites while we are travelling.
