Day 20 – Day to Relax

Before heading out tomorrow, everyone just relaxed in our lawn chairs, did some bike riding, and did last minute prep for leaving.

We took Marley bike riding today around the campground and she seemed very relaxed and comfortable in her back pack on my shoulders.

Day 19 – Revisit Kennebunkport

After viewing our church’s worship service, we decided to go back to Kennebunkport to relax on the shores and watch the sailboats go by. Perfect location for that was the old Episcopal church.

On the way home, made a pit stop at Walmart to get some supplies, then had supper with everyone… fried chicken breasts, rice-a-Toni, and jalapeño poppers.

Day 18 – Game Day

Today we went to Walmart for some groceries and supplies. Then we had a late lunch before the Alabama game. Wendy did a low country boil with lobster, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn on the cob. It was delicious. Then we all sat outside and watched the game on TV.

Alabama won a nail-biter vs. Florida, 31 – 29. Then watched the Auburn game vs. Penn State. It was a good game, but AU lost.

Day 17 – Visit Portland, Maine

Drove less than 30 minutes to the largest city in Maine, Portland. We visited the most photographed lighthouse in Maine called the Portland Head Lighthouse. Still operates.

We ate lunch at a small restaurant called Becky’s Diner. It took awhile to sit down and eat, but was delicious. We did a little shopping in old town Portland. And before we left, we stopped by the bay front Harbor Fish Market to pickup today’s catch of lobsters and shrimp. Plan on cooking them tomorrow before the Alabama game.

Day 16 – Visit Kennebunkport, Maine

We left the campground around 9:30am to travel to Kennebunkport about 30 minutes away. First stop was an old Episcopal church that was made out of stone.

Then we drove by the Bush compound… the collection of homes of the Bush family when vacationing in Maine. Estate was owned by the first President George Bush, and passed down. The flag was flying at the estate, meaning some of the Bush family was there! This view is across the way from the large estate.

We did some shopping in downtown Kennebunkport and got some dinner at a little sandwich shop. Then we went by a strange house called the Wedding Cake House.

Next we visited the famous Nubble Lighthouse in York just outside town. It was located on an island and still in operation. Some think it is the most photographed lighthouse.

Then we did some hiking at the Cliff Walk. Some gorgeous views of the rocky shores.

The trail was above the cliff formations and went alongside private homes

Once we returned back to the campground, Renee fixed taco soup and everyone joined in.
